Robbie Fowler believes Arsenal will not win any major trophies this year if Kai Havertz continues as the main striker.

Fowler made the prediction after the Gunners lost 4-0 on aggregate to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.สมัคร UFABET

The 25-year-old German international started both matches but failed to make an impact. With just one shot on target.

Although Havertz remains Mikel Arteta’s regular starter. The Spaniard has expressed his disappointment at his side’s failure to sign a new striker in January. With Arsenal showing interest in signing Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

Fowler, a former top-flight striker, has questioned whether the £65m forward is the right choice for a team. That is chasing major trophies such as the Premier League or Champions League.

“To be honest, he (Havertz) is not my type.”

“I think he’s OK, but if you’re a team that really wants to win the Premier League and the Champions League. I think you need someone better than Kai Havertz to play as a centre-forward.”

“He can do the job, but I don’t think he’s as consistent as he might want to be. I just think there are a lot of better players out there.”

Fowler also spoke about Arsenal’s £60m bid for Watkins towards the end of last month’s transfer window.

“When Arsenal were linked with Ollie Watkins, it seemed like a small gesture to me.” Fowler added.

‘Realistically, once Jon Duran is gone, there’s no way Villa are going to let him go. So it seems to me more like a fan-pleasing move than a serious offer.’
